Indianapolis Marion County

Community Justice Center

The Indianapolis Marion County Community Justice Campus is a transformative project located in the Twin Aire neighborhood, repurposing a former brownfield site into a state-of-the-art civic facility. Anchored by the 12-story Consolidated Civil and Criminal Courthouse, the campus integrates judicial, law enforcement, and correctional services into a unified environment. The project is not just a courthouse but a symbol of neighborhood renewal, providing an economic and cultural boost to Indianapolis’ southeast side. The Consolidated Civil and Criminal Courthouse highlights include:

  • A 12-story high-rise serving as the central facility for judicial services.
  • Houses 12 courtrooms, 24 non-jury courtrooms, and 34 hearing rooms.
  • Features a two-story glass atrium for public access and separate circulation systems for judges, staff, and defendants

Design 27 was part of the Schmidt Associates team to provide technology design solutions and architectural acoustics to control noise and create a pleasing sound environment throughout. Design 27 was also involved with the Marion County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Services Agency and we are currently working on the Youth & Family Services Center.
