Originally built in 1907 as a Carnegie Library this facility was renovated and reopened in 2013 as the Earlham College campus Welcome Center. Tyler Hall now serves as the campus’ Welcome Center and the home for the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, and Marketing and Communications. A facility that was once close to demolition was saved when President David Dawson arrived on campus in 2011. The Board of Trustees approved $5.6 million for the complete renovation and restoration of a beautiful historic facility.
Tyler Hall received LEED Silver certification and is centrally located on campus near the main entry to welcome perspective students visiting the college while also providing services for new students. Design 27 worked with Earlham College to address the telecommunication requirements. This included the cabling infrastructure along with the audio/visual systems and security/access control requirements. The lobby area includes full projection systems for informational presentation sessions and kiosks for student engagement and information. All of the conference rooms include audio/visual systems to support various types of meetings. An interactive display is also located at the main entrance that illustrates real time energy consumption for the facility.
