The Terre Haute Convention Center, located in downtown Terre Haute near Indiana State University, opened in April 2022 after two years of construction. The $32.5 million project offers a modern 43,000-square-foot facility with key features designed for versatility and engagement. It includes a 12,992-square-foot ballroom capable of hosting up to 1,000 people in a theater-style setup or 900 for seated dining. The ballroom can also be divided into smaller spaces for more intimate events. The Terre Haute Convention Center has significantly contributed to the revitalization of downtown Terre Haute and the broader community providing a venue for conferences, weddings, expos, and other large-scale events, drawing visitors to the city and creating new economic opportunities.
The Larry Bird Museum, located within the Terre Haute Convention Center, officially opened to the public on May 31, 2024. The museum is dedicated to chronicling the life and legendary basketball career of Larry Bird, celebrating his roots in Indiana and his achievements at Indiana State University, with the Boston Celtics, and as a member of the Olympic “Dream Team.” It showcases an array of memorabilia, including items from his high school, college, and NBA days, along with his contributions as a coach and executive for the Indiana Pacers.
